France: Next year's Prix de Diane Longines may be moved back a week after a request by France-Galop received the approval of the European Pattern Committee.
The French equivalent of the Oaks is at the moment scheduled to be run at Chantilly on Sunday, June 10 next year, the same day as the Men's Final of the French Open Tennis at Roland Garros.
However, Longines are the title partner for the Diane and also a major sponsor of the Open.
French racing's governing body France-Galop confirmed that a request to move the Diane to July 17 has been made to the Pattern Committee, and that they are awaiting an official reply.
The chairman of the European Pattern Committee, Brian Kavanagh, said: "The date change has been approved by the committee and any problem can be raised at our annual meeting in January."
France-Galop do not foresee any issues with the timing of the Diane if it were moved to July 17, as it would still fall on the Sunday before Royal Ascot, as was the case this year.
However, they remain sensitive to a potential date clash with one of French trotting's main events, the Prix du President de la Republique.
Trotting's governing body Cheval Francaisare due to discuss the matter at board level later this week and a decision is not expected until after the weekend
